New Lake District Boutique Hotel Looking Big!

It’s not far off if what I saw when I drove past was anything to go by. The new hotel on the Langdale Estate. It’s going to be called Brimstone, or Brimstone at Langdale for it’s full title as per the website.

It’s rare you see such large structures going up in and around Langdale or in Ambleside for that matter so it is quite an exciting prospect I think and one that I would love to have a look around, By all accounts, it’s not your average hotel. Its aim to be a 5 star hotel when graded and everything looks as though it’s pointing that way. I’ve stayed at the Langdale Hotel in the past and know how lovely it is in there so Brimstone must be something uber special to beat it.

According to the website, they’re all going to be self contained suites with private parking and a balcony. There’s going to be a concierge service, in room or balcony spa treatments and as with the rest of the Langdale Estate, sustainable energy use.
I’m really pleased sustainability is going to be high on the agenda for this new Lake District boutique hotel, Brimstone Hotel. The more new build hotels and even other business sector premises than have sustainability at the forefront of their build the better and it will hopefully make other businesses follow suit.

It’s Valentine’s Weekend…….

…..and you late comers, those of you who may have forgotten what weekend it is or those that have suddenly realised they have underestimated what is expected of them for this weekend of love and romance, all is not lost.

coniston-water-west-shoreIt’s not too late to book a Valentine’s weekend away in the Lake District. What could be better than booking a romantic stay in a luxury cottage in the Lake District? A retreat where you can come and go when you please, a complete getaway. If you get a move on now boys, you can even look if a restaurant close by could sqeeze you in for a celebratory meal Friday or Saturday night and perhaps stock up on chocolates, champagne, croisants for the morning and goodies for a picnic hamper. The weather forecast is looking quite favourable for the weekend so a romantic picnic in a secluded spot should be on the cards.

Of course, just about everywhere in the Lake District is desirable but somewhere that really lends itself to Valentine’s is Cartmel. Cartmel is not just home to the famous sticky toffee pudding but it is now firmly on the map for gastronomy in general largely to do with Simon Rogan and L’Enclume but also the many other high quality places to eat and drink due to the abundant supply of the finest local produce. Combine this with its character, charm, cobbled streets and stunning holiday cottages, it’s really worth checking out.
